When you send us an anti-snoring appliance case, upper and lower scans alone may not tell us which jaw relationship the clinician has prescribed. The most useful order includes the requested design, a construction bite or other prescribed mandibular position record, relevant design notes, and one person who can approve questions. Complete records help us review the case before production and avoid avoidable back-and-forth across time zones.

This guide explains what to send to Times Dental Lab and what we check before manufacturing. For material and sample-design background, see our custom nylon anti-snoring appliance guide. Clinical diagnosis, appliance selection, delivery, adjustment, and follow-up remain with the appropriate medical and dental professionals.

Quick Answer

To submit an anti-snoring appliance case to Times Dental Lab, please send us a written prescription, upper and lower scans or models, the prescribed construction bite or mandibular position record, your requested appliance design, material and relief instructions, and one contact authorized to approve case questions. If a required record or design instruction is missing, we will contact your designated approval contact before production.

What We Need Before Starting an Anti-Snoring Appliance Case

Please give us one clear set of production instructions. We use the following details to check that the prescription, patient records, and requested design refer to the same case:

· Case ID and written prescription

· Requested appliance design, including ON1 or ON3 if one of those sample designs is intended

· Upper and lower scans or other working records agreed for the case

· Construction bite or another clearly prescribed mandibular position record

· Material, coverage, retention, relief, and other case-specific design instructions

· Notes on existing crowns, bridges, implants, missing teeth, or sensitive areas

· One named contact authorized to answer questions and approve any requested preview

· Requested delivery date and shipping destination

If this is your first case with us, our How to Send a Dental Case page explains the general submission process. For this appliance category, please also confirm the required record format and requested design with us before dispatching physical items.

Why Upper and Lower Scans Are Not Enough

Upper and lower scans help us review the arch form, tooth positions, and areas relevant to appliance fit. They do not tell us the mandibular position prescribed for the sleep appliance. If the design requires a specific jaw relationship, please include a construction bite or another clearly prescribed mandibular position record.

If that record is missing or unclear, we will contact your designated approval contact and hold the case before production. This helps us avoid making an appliance at a position the clinician did not prescribe, even when the scans themselves are usable.

Confirm the Appliance Design and Material

Our current nylon anti-snoring appliance guide shows ON1 and ON3 as sample designs. If you want one of these designs, name it in the prescription and describe any case-specific changes. If you are using another named or component-based design, send the exact model and component requirements. A photograph can help explain your request, but it cannot replace a written design instruction.

Our existing product guide identifies EOS PA 2200, a PA12 nylon material, for its nylon appliance category. Please confirm the material requirement for the specific case and destination market when ordering. We will clarify any mismatch between the requested design, material instruction, and records before manufacturing.

How We Review the Case Before Production

We first match the case ID and prescription to the upper, lower, and bite-related records. We then check the requested design, material instruction, and special notes for coverage, retention, relief, and existing restorations. If you request a design preview, tell us who can approve it and confirm whether a preview is available for this case.

When instructions are incomplete or contradictory, we will place the case on hold and contact the designated approval contact. Once the required details are confirmed, we manufacture from the approved instructions and records. Before shipment, our production review can cover case identity, selected design, surface finish, edge condition, and adaptation to the submitted working records. Chairside fit and clinical adjustments are assessed by the treating dentist.

Four Case Problems That Commonly Delay Production

The Prescription Only Says Anti-Snoring Appliance

Please identify the requested design and prescribed jaw relationship. If you intend to use ON1, ON3, or another design, state that explicitly so we can review the right production requirements.

Scans Arrive Without a Construction Bite

We can review the arches but cannot infer the prescribed mandibular position from the scans alone. Please send the missing construction bite or ask the clinician to clarify the intended relationship.

An Existing Appliance Arrives Without Change Instructions

Tell us what the old appliance is meant to show, what should be retained, and what should change. We will use it as a reference only after you confirm how it relates to the current prescription.

The Case Has Crowns, Implants, or Relief Requirements but No Notes

Please identify any restorations or areas that need special attention. Annotated images or photographs can help us interpret a case-specific instruction that may be unclear in text alone.

Digital and Physical Records

You may begin a digital case review by sending the prescription, upper and lower scans, bite-related records, and relevant photos. For a case involving physical impressions, models, a bite record, or an existing appliance, contact us first to confirm which items are required and how they should be labeled and shipped. A digital submission still needs the prescribed jaw-position record when the requested design depends on it.

Clinical and Regulatory Context

We manufacture appliances from the prescription and approved records. We do not diagnose primary snoring or obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), determine patient suitability, prescribe an advancement position, or measure treatment effectiveness. The AASM and AADSM oral appliance therapy guideline explains that a sleep physician should diagnose primary snoring before treatment to exclude OSA. For OSA, a sleep physician prescribes oral appliance therapy; a qualified dentist provides the appliance, adjustments, and dental follow-up, with sleep-medicine follow-up as indicated. Oral appliance therapy is not suitable for every patient.

FAQs

Is an Anti-Snoring Appliance the Same as a Night Guard

No. We make night guards for a different prescribed purpose. Anti-snoring appliance cases may require a specific mandibular position record and sleep-related design instructions. For the guard category, see our hard vs soft night guard guide.

Can We Review a Case From Intraoral Scans

Yes, we can review digital records when the prescription, scans, and required bite-related information are complete. We will confirm whether the submitted files are suitable for the requested design before production.

Can We Choose the Advancement Position for You

No. The treating clinician must prescribe the intended position and provide a usable record. We will request clarification if the record is missing or conflicts with the written instructions.

Who Delivers and Adjusts the Appliance

A qualified dentist is responsible for chairside delivery, fit verification, adjustment, patient instructions, and dental follow-up. The sleep physician remains responsible for sleep-medicine diagnosis, prescription, and treatment-effectiveness review where applicable.

Submit a Case to Times Dental Lab
